Built in NJ

John, it appears that your boat is a NJ built Challenger.

TeamSaris 11-12-2007 03:46 PM

Is that a good or bad thing?

Philip 11-12-2007 05:02 PM

I had a NJ built boat,

I am not sure if one was built any better then the other, mine was built in NJ, I think that T2x would be a much better judge of that. I loved my boat, The only thing I see that was different, my boat didn't have the teak running below the life line on the deck, this area was a blue gelcoat stripe, same as the hull side color, my boat was a 1979.

I have the teak.I also noticed it only had one bulhead under the deck. Is that normal?

Cogratulations on your new project boat. The Challenger has always been one of my all time favorites. I rate it right up there with the 27` Magnum sport for historical importance. There used to be one here in Miami with a pair of Merc 200`s. That was the coolest boat ever, I tryed to buy it on several occasions but owner would not sell. I eventually bought a custom 21` Apache from my good friend Bobby Saccenti, black hull white deck, had a paint job by Benny, named ALLYSONS APACHE Had a pair of 2.5 EFI race motors, foot throttle etc. The boat was one of the wildest rides around. Had to put some extra long trim tabs on as she ran out of bottom. Final white knuckle speed 96 mph. I was shooting for a 100 but didnt have props, good luck and enjoy a great piece of history. 7XCHAMP
