I was fortunate to see this movie over the weekend after so many years of waiting. This is by far the best coverage of the earlier days (not the earliest) of Offshore Racing. Given the age and technological limitations of the time, I thought it was excellent. Seeing departed old friends like Pruitt and Sirois in their prime, brought a tear to my eyes. The rough water footage and the length of the races was a great counterpoint to today's racing model. Also the simplicity of the classes (1-outboard and 2-Inboard) made so much sense in retrospect that all of today's racers should be required to view this.
You can obtain a copy by joining Charlie McCarthy's HORBA(Historic Offshore Race Boat Association) for a very modest fee...... www.historicraceboats.com
I loved it.

There's a funny story involved with my writing the copy for the TV film Run Sunward for the late Merrick Lewis. We spent all night setting the sound tyrack for the film which was done by an Ohio TV sportscaster. After my part was done I took a snooze on the floor carpet. When we all huddled to hear the sound track you could herar me snoring in the background makung it necessary to recut the sound track!

I read about the website in Hot Boat magazine, in Brownie's column and just had to see the movie, my wife signed me up as a Christmas present , and it was great!! Seeing those guys in action after mostly just reading about them was terrific. Too bad the footage can't be "digitally remastered" like Disney does!!
