What kind of boat is this???
 

I saw this boat in a lot in Livingston, TX. It looked about 38 feet long and had twins. It also looked like it used to have triples because there was about 5 feet of room in front of the twins and a poor job covering the third drive hole. The deck looks like a 32 hustler by the windshield/ engine comp vents. I believe the hull numbers started with SXV or SVX and the last two were 78 which I assumed meant it was a 1978 model. The boat said Signiture Series III on the side and I seem to remember a boat co called Signiture although I don't remember them making boats this big.

I know someone out there knows this boat or at least a story behind them. Any info is much appreciated.

Looks like trouble. Your right it looks like a 32 Hustler deck stretched 5 feet in the stern with a hull resembling an old Coyote. My guess is it didn't end up there cause it ran well.

It's a 38 Signature. They use to be next door to Cigarette, I believe the mold is now Pantera's 38. Signature made a 27', a 32' and the III model 38. Your right about the deck looking like the 32 Hustler-I think the 27 mold went to hustler and was stretched to a 32. Several 27 raceboats were raced, Crazy Greek, Adios Gringo and Lady L. In 1976 the company owner, Tom Adams ran a 38 Spirit of America #76 in the open class. Adams suffered an "untimely" death, and the company folded. The Lady L boat is supposed to be being restored and raced in OPA this year. Hope this helps...

Didnt Know Pantera made a 38???

Only made a couple. Supercharger Systems was a race boat here in the Great Lakes for a few years. Ran O.K.

Possible, but not to fix it up. I plan on parting it out. The hull is questionible at best. 1" of water in cabin, no cover. Suprisingly enough, the cabin is spotless, except for the water in the floor. Paint is peeling off the dash to reveal the 1/2" thick plywood that it was made out of. It's a shame because it could have been a cool boat. I've got enough projects and don't need another.

The first Offshore boat I ever came in contact with was one of those in the late 70s in Austn TX on Lake Travis. Man that brings back memories. Looks like a Hustler because it became Hustler. Scratch off some of the paint and see if it is brown under the white could be the same one.

I figured that, I may have interest in the exhaust, price would have to be right, condition may be questionable on the manifolds, let me know if you get it or what you would want for the exhaust, IU assume drives are gone?

they dont make a 38 only a 36

Pantera on built a handful of the 38's .......LONG before they built the 36'

Looks like there is enough good parts there to warrant buying it, provided the price was right. Then "donate" the hull to your local Housing Authority, maybe even get a tax write off for the donation?

I'm actually kind of surprised the other drive and the external steering rams haven't been snatched off of it, being that it sits in a field like that and looks like its been there for a long time.

If you do a search for Pantera 38, a thread comes up where Joe claims they built 4 38's.

Rob is correct. They built a few 38s back in the 90s.
But i think this statement is throwing some off.
