steeb, it deals with the interesting project French of the former F1 driver Didier Pironi.
As interesting as ill-omened.
Was on board of this hull that during the Needles Trophy of the 1987 Pironi, Giroux and Guenard they found the death after a scary looping of the boat caused by the wrong affront of a wave of wake of an oil-tanker in the Channel.
Almost three months later the funereal boat was present to Key West drove by another Frenchman former F1 driver Jean Pierre Jarier to his first experience in a offshore competition.

That is the old 47` Arneson boat I set up for T.G. we had the four 1,100 hp Gentry turbo motors in it. The drive system was all T.G. we actually trimmed the rudders in and out, also we had small foils at the base of the rudders for extra trim. Since everything was experimental we had many failures and DNF`s but when we were running we were at the front. The last time I ran that boat we had it up to almost 170 mph. That`s the boat that holds the world superboat kilo record with T.G. and Connor. Grest pics and good memories. Thanks.

Amazing that Rainbow won a championship (2004 P1) as Thuraya nearly 20 years after that photo was taken.

Hi Butch: Great to hear from you. The two motors went from their crash boxes to a chain box. Two inputs and one output. When idling out to the course etc. we would just run one motor in gear. When it came time to start, I had to shut both motors down, bump both motors in gear, hit both ignitions then both starters at the same time, and hang on. Bad part was when we lost an engine, it would really destroy stuff if you were running hard. When that boat hooked up it would run like a freight train. We blew the tunnel out of her on a couple of occasions, in fact when we bought it from Howard, the tunnel had to be put back in place as it had been blown out, good old wood boats. 7XCHAMP
