how many hours on em?

I was told they were freshened with test time only and then the boat was parked for several years .
They fired right up , sound insane , good oil press , no unusual engine noise etc.
They have brass Merc tags right on them that state 540EFI . The heads are marked Kevin Self Racing , I called them and they confirmed they did heads for Merc Racing .
I was just going to drop the pans , check the brgs then replace lifters , rockers and springs whether they need them or not . ( cheap insurance )
I'm sure I'll get half my money back for those parts on Ebay .
The throttle response on these babies is instantaneous !
I'm pretty sure they'll push an old Cig to 90 or better .

hummm......:cool-smiley-011:
how hard would these be to make coast guard legal?

aex 03-01-2008 11:41 AM

Some sort of flame arrestors , period .
These motors idle really well and the sound is like none other , the intake sound is as great as the exhaust , reminds of an old open element carburated Ferrari , only like 10X louder .

Where these in the Jaguar?

aex 03-01-2008 01:05 PM

No , they were in the Chris Cat . I'm spending a small fortune on the boat redoing it so when an opportunity came up to upgrade the power I said " screw it ! "
