I saw the photos of the free one on Craig's list. As I recall it didn't have staggered engines and the sides were white. At the time I didn't think it was the Wolverine. I printed off the guy's phone number. I'll give him a call and see if he still has it. I think it was in Algonac.

just found out that this is the race boat WILD WON from california, Owed by Solum Oil and raced by James R Solum that ran the catalina circuit when i got the boat it was called bank shot and after removing the paint i found the name WILD WON I can also still buy the oringal outdrives from the person in Detroit that i bought the boat from they are the TRS mercruiser outdrives with titaniam props the boat needs everything but the hull is in good shape i would like to see some one put it back to the way it use to be as The world record holder, also the boat is sittin on a three axel trailer with less than 50 miles on it. call me if u interested or have any info on this boat thanks ken hull 586-218-8257. Is the Wild Won/Bank Shot boat set up for staggered engines or side by side?

I heard someone say the "new" Wolverine is a replica, not the original.

The newer Wolverine was Pete's backup pleasure boat with full cabin. This was the Mirage that came to my old school reunion last June on Lake St Clair. When Pete had the Active race cat he also had one built for pleasure that I bought from him, he liked doubles.

Thanks for the info, H2O. I worked for Jim one summer during college. A cool place for a young kid to hang out even if I only made $2.50 an hour!

It's too bad about the Wolverine. We lost a lot of great old Chris-Crafts, Hackers and Gar Woods to the burn pile before people recognized that they had value. The same thing seems to be happening to these new classics. It's good to see that some people have an interest in preserving these boats. Let''s hope we can save some more before they're lost forever.

I bought the very first offshore boat that Jim sold back in 1974, a 24' Cheetah. You are right many of the classics wood & glass have been lost. [OLD SCHOOL IS COOL]
