Miami Vice- Smugglers Blues
Was watching my MiamiVice DVD's last night and at the beginning of 'smugglers blues' Crocket&Tubbs are sitting in a car when Crocket hears something, "sounds like a cigarette, twin 641's I think" he says.
Crocket's amazing! able to id an engine's HP or CI by a mere distant sound! No wonder my friends, family, ex's, and current gfriend make fun of me. Anywho, has anyone ever heard of a 641, vintage 1984 of course? |

That era was 540`s and 575`s were the latest badest motors, mostly built by Hawk Marine and C&G at the time, Don was actually pretty good as a Motor head, We were part sponsored by GM when we ran the Team USA boat, Don Runkle was in charge of Hi-Po at GM at the time, Several engineers were sent to Cobra for help in building our motors, only problem is that no one listened and we had horrible luck with motors, We took everything eventually to Harold Grady Coyote engines and finally won a race in Marathon beating Ike Batista and Bobby Moore in Spirit of the Amazon, They cut us off in the turns, wet us down, but we persisted and beat them for the only win in that boat. Don was involved in all aspects of the team, and did a good job.

Seeing Bill's name brought back memories of the first "poker runs" that Norval and Tod ran in the late 80's early 90's. I ran 5 or 6 of them, both north and south. Lots of laughs with Bill and the rest of the "group". Please say hello for me the next time you see him.
Mike I can still remember Norval driving 'The Dealer' and filming other boats at the same time. Funny at Bill's party the other night, there was another Turnberrry regular, Susan Green, who was in Law School in UM at the time. She still looks terrific. Barry |
