These boats are great, have a 9' beam. Check the book "Sea Race" by John Crouse, there is a lot of history there. I think Sandy Satullo raced one and won a National Championship in one of these in the late 70's.

Wannabe

I believe they were first called a Gara. The #7 was made of wood & glass it sank after this test run. The #27 was a fiber glass hull, the next replacement Copper Kettle was also glass.

Only three pics I have managed to capture over time from the various websites:-

MidOcean 05-27-2009 07:57 AM

The 44' Tempest came from the 41 Corsa. A guy named Reagan Davis stretched and popped the boat back in '82 before loosing the company to Dick Simon.

Davis by the way was married to the sister of famed Nixon Atty and banker Bebe Rebozo of Miami. Rebozo, a Cuban American, died in '98.

Copper Kettle was sold to Bob Gingold, a plastic Surgeon in Miami who held on to the boat for a few years.

Marshall Ives had a 41 built with (4) 2.4's back in 84. It was one of the first 4 engine boats.

great pics. littlenige mine have different deck i think its not a race flat version is more like a cruise version is taller and the ugliest thing i find about it but i'm shure that the cabin will feature a lot of features and amenities thanks to it, I'll love to see pics of the 4 outboard Mr.Ives Corsa do you have any MidOcean?

Fast Shafts 05-27-2009 10:42 AM

I think the #27 is Challenge II owned by Bob Esposito from Toms River NJ. That photo has to be 1975/76?
