Can you dig up any pic's from him? i'm looking into history of the boats. Can't seem to find much must have been pretty rare? Have you seen and been on your freinds boat? if so how did it do in bigger water? ride ,attidude really interested 320's sounds very nice and easy! Well any help would be greatly appreciated. Rich
I'll see if he's got any pics. The boat has been shrink wrapped for the last 5 years or so. Originally, the boat had small blocks with Volvo 280 drives. no power trim. The re-power really woke it up. He had cut the X-Dimention a little too high for the Alpha SS drives, the Land & Sea Sternjacks were a patch for the problem but worked well and planted the drives a bit deeper. This worked well for planing. When trimmed out it would climb back on its tail. This hull has a lot of rocker. Top speed was right around 80. Very good handling boat. |
Thanks

www.lgdonziclassic.com the 24 donzi hull came in several forms the spitfire which is like most donzi classic a 2 +3 seating with no cuddy the spirit was a cuddy cabin version with a metal framed windshield the doral was a cuddy with high back fiberglass molded seat with a storage compartment it also had a very unique fiberglass framed windshield the el peascador a fishing version CC the hulls were "monohull" construction, from what i understand that the tub/deck and the hull were glued together to form one piece they ride very well but need real power to get them moving and need alot of trim to get them up and going there is a very nice single in MI for sale now most were twin sbc and volvos I have been searching for an old one that ran on my lake "jamseyboy" it had warmed up sbc and volvo edrives check out the model list on www.donzi.org it has picstures of all of the 24 models BTW the 24 was designed by harry scheoll (sp) and the molds went on to sonic and other mfgr's from what i heard al the 4 models same hull with different modular pieces that made them different made from 74 to 77 by donzi in the variuos 4 models all of which are pretty uncommon the spitfire is the rarest of the 4 have not seen many el pescadors either |

i forgot about that yellow doral that is another solid boat in MI
I was thinking of this single spitfire http://www.mackinacseaplanes.com/rcs...3/24_donzi.htm http://viciousmarine.com/id12.html this was listed on craigslist a month or so ago |
------Golf,,,You should maybe call me as I have a Spitfire under restoration now, and have lived with an El Pescador that I did a through resto on for several years now. I have as much seat time as anybody out there in Harrys 24 design, maybe more. As far as I am concerned it is the best 24 ever designed. Because of a new purchase I may have some interest in moving the boat I have about half way done. My # is 810-434-9663!!!
------And Matty,,,That yellow Doral is not near as solid as you think. Ive been in it and poked around and the transom appears to be soft. If its soft, the engine compartment stringers will be soft as well. ------Golf,,,Mattys assesment of the 24 DONZI project, and all the different packages is on the money!!!........Bill S |
Bill there are a few of these Dorals for sale in the Michigan & Ohio area, but unfortunately most have been left neglected for many years.

I actually own hull number 1 of the Spitfires. It is a 1974 and the factory named it "Spirit of 76". It is the boat with the Mercruiser 320 EFI's and SS Drives.
