that's going to be a sweet ride....

Hondo,
Really killer boat. Please take pics as you go, and keep us up to date! |
I have the engine out of it now, have the K plane and trim motors working good. I found out what knocked the ends off the plugs in #7 and #8. A piece of the #7 intake valve cracked off and went into #8 and #5. Nothing that a new set of pistons and a valve job wont cure.
All of the vinyl cleaned up surprisingly good. Magic Eraser works better than anything I have ever seen. Try it. Drained about a gallon of water out of the fuel tank and re-sealed the sending unit. Bearing in the rear of the tail housing was bad. Replaced that too. In the interest of saving a few bucks in the short run, I'm switching all the Mercruiser stuff over to a running 454 that I have in the garage. I'll rebuild the 420 later. The engine I'm putting in is no slouch, so it should be fun. I hope to have it back on the water in a few weeks. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...P1050316-2.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...oJet/Head2.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...oJet/Head1.jpg |

Cool Hondo. Remember your Lake Norman neighbor when you need some one for ballast on the test rides!! :)

I believe this was the boat that either held the record, or was the one that flipped , or both. I do remember it was red and from archer marine. Kevlar hull I think.
