Just an observation . the race boats have not changed that much but take a look at the spectator boats , today they are sometimes faster than some race boats

I know it was the cover boat one month for one of the magazines like Motor Boat and Sailing, but I seem to have a faint memeory of something more infamous about it.

Then afterwards to be completely demolished and
removed for the development of three (3) new homes
directly on the ocean.

In it, Chan takes the "Manhattan Express" and runs it in to a small cruiser(34 Uniflite). The two boats explode as Chan escapes onto a helicopter.

Excalibur made an identical 40 Excal Hawk, bare hull and that was the boat that was blown-up.

Manhattan Express was the predominant pace boat back in the mid 80's. It was partially sponsored by the publishers of Motor Boating and sailing mag and was at all of the races.
