I posted in the General Section, but for those who only read this section, just wanted to pas the info on that John Crouse SEARACE author has passed.

John was 79 years old and died from complications of a fall in his home.

Funeral was private. May his soul rest in peace.

I re-connected with John over the past few years and I always enjoyed hearing his stories. He would always tell me what was on his mind. John sent several pictures to me that he knew would have special meaning and signed a copy of SEARACE to my 7 year old son so that future generations would know the history of offshore racing. I will miss him, but I know that my life was a little more complete for having known him. May he rest in peace with the other that we have known and lost.

John

Sad news; I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with John a number of times over the past couple decades - he was always a character and never at a loss for words!

Charlie, if I remember correctly, he was writing a second book? If I'm right, do you know what its status is?

A sad day.The sport owes Crousey a huge debit for his chronicling of offshore racing, for without his efforts it would be hard to piece together the history.OK,he got it wrong sometimes, but going into print leaves you there to be shot at.
No matter, his legacy is such that we should be forever grateful that his writings, always colourful, are there for reference in future years. There are not many that have been around since the modern era of offshore began to relate these stories,so hard to accept this is the end of an era where we can read about races with gripping stories to tell.

I always looked at his column in Powerboat first - he had all the information on Offshore - Powerboat Magazine was never the same after he left - He and I would talk many times at races - a Character- a unique Character - he was missed for many years, and now gone - many memories - wonderful memories too - Rest in Peace John ! John was a great man and a true staple to the sport. His energy and talents exposed us all to the world, and now beyond.

God speed my brother and friend.
