Gracias. Should have the wiring done tonight. Now to figure out the freakin' thermostat housing. The water intake on my outdrive comes in on the starboard side, and the PS is on the starboard side. All the thermostat housing that work with headers have the inlet on the PORT side. ARGH.
Much cleaner.

The simple thermostat housing MUST happen. I have headers, but the only thermostat housing is the one mentioned in this thread:
and the intake is on the opposite side of my STOCK cast iron housing. So rerouting the water intake hose is going to be a *****, because I cannot switch the power steering cooler easily.

There is a standard Merc Hose that goes from the water pump on the stb side and soes a Big "S" turn Under the motor to come out on the Port side to a oil/power steering cooler mounted right by the port motor mount, then the hose coming out of the cooler goes right to the front circulating pump or crossover. sounds like what you need..

What did you end up doing with the old manifolds now that you have headers?

Cash why did'nt you just get rid of all those nasty hoses and use a cross over,If you buy all that hose new you will have a ton in them if you use the pre-shaped merc stuff.JOHN

Long time no update, here goes:
Got the wiring almost done. Still need to apparently put a fuse block in or circuit breakers for the accessories (lights, bilge, fuel selector solonoid), and I think west marine sent me the wrong steering cable. DAMMIT. I got the stainless steel thermostat housing today, it's gorgeous. THANK you to whomever suggested it, now the problem is rerouting the hoses to make it work. Also, still need an alternator bracket, badly. Here's some pictures of the progress:
Removed windshield to buff the boat.
Repairing the nose by building up gelcoat
Buffing the dash after removing everything.
Polishing dash...

End result! Not a mirror finish, but definitely pretty deep, and shiny! Still need to tape everything, I purchased black tape with metallic sparkle for it!
This is the type of wiring I found when I unwrapped the harness. YIKES.
After sanding with 220.
After sanding down to 800, then buffing with aggressive compound. Sick of working on aesthetics, just want to get it wet this year so I'm done dealing with this. It's good enough, for now.
Good from far.....
Overall, happy with the transom repairs....
And unhappy with the crack repairs...
