OUTSTANDING!!!
The computer Gremlin got me again last night. You know. That's the one that sneaks out of your computer, climbs over your shoulder, and sets the clock on the wall ahead about 3 hours. The race results section is great. It has allowed me to attach exact dates to events that I remember from the 60s. The section with old magazine articles also refreshed my memory and actually confirmed to me that some of the things I remember happening, actually did happen . - Steve Sirois |
Powerboatarchive
Still wading through it then Nige.
More films to be added in due course. That`s in the capable hands of John Hedges (webmaster) without whose help the site would not be possible. At present scanning the 2000 - 2010 reports and will add more pics afterwards. The pdf`s take forever trying to line them up half straight, such that it will be nigh on 40,000 pages scanned by the finish. Small note for ` Bulletbob`.The site was born in Jan 2011,although you might have seen the pics and films on another site. Marco (Black Tornado) has also kindly added some of his Italian reports and is building up his Viareggio - Bastia history to complement the site. Meanwhile `Little Nige` has also been busy transferring his film collection to `youtube`,which we must put a link to sometime. The whole idea of the site is to provide a lasting history of offshore rather than have it locked away in various lofts never to see the light of day.To keep every magazine I have collected over the past 50 yrs would need another house to store it,so this website is an ideal method to retain the info. The films take some time to deal with because youtube have a cut off time of about 15 mins, and a lot of films are 30-60 mins long,so we can`t use youtube for that, and we need to keep these longer films for posterity,so the webmaster is having to wrestle with 60min (500mb) of DVD/Tape quite a lot. Hope you enjoy dipping into the past history of offshore. Graham Stevens |

Yes,I do have a few, but unlike the films which are on the website the producers of which have long ceased making films, the U.S. ones from the 80`s although not producing films any more still have these that can be purchased. There are a couple more,Dania 81 and St.Augustine 82 which will be added that fall into the catagory of films made by producers not trading or selling any more. Bear in mind the whole idea of this website is to preserve the history of racing, and we would like to include as much material as possible. |
Hi Doctor,
your work(with BluFin) on Powerboatarchive is invaluable for the memory of the sport. Soon I hope to emerge to recharge the batteries, fill my lungs of salt air and send you another CD with some material even from the Latin Quarter. Korvettenkapitan der U-Boote Clouseau P.S. I hope that OSO accepted some of my advertising:signs036: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1...dlogoxsign.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
