Speaking of Shadows

Since there is a great thread on here about a 1981 Shadow getting resored...got me wondering. It is my understanding that Love it again became Hustler which became Crimson tide which later became Out of Bounds lastly in CA...Where might this Shadow be now?
And also where is the Shadow 30 that was Ambusher then Eastern Express then maybe Cat Nip? Michigan somewhere? Interested, thanks.

Must be slow around here or I think I'm on too much. Any pics of 30 Shadow American Dream colors or when it was for sale at Sunny Isles as Miss Puerto Rico? ....please?!

Ryan Beckley 01-19-2012 08:03 PM

American Dream is alive and well as D-11 and was last seen at TnT with # 5's and blower motors......

Love It Again was sitting out back of marine Machine about 10 years ago when I saw it last, rotting, with some funky canopies on the deck, might have said Phantom on the side?

The Shadow cat that became Ambusher was gray in color & originally came from Lake Mead I believe. It then became Eastern Express. We sold it to Greg Dunbar from the Grand Haven Mi area, he named it CAT NIP. Last time I talked to Greg about 3 years ago he still had it.

I wonder which boat became Crimson Tide and Out of Bounds in CA. I thought I read that T2x (in a previous post) said the second Love it went to CA...thought Crimson Tide might be it.
Hmmmmm.

Any more pics of this one? Very cool! I saw it in a Sarasota race 1989 I think. Did you have 500/550 hp smallblocks? Does boat still have smallblocks? Thanks.

Yup PHANTOM was it , I had seen it about that same time
at American Offshore in Dania when Greg Gluck was the Broker their. And funky is a good word for those canopies
too... LOL

We ran 372cu small blocks with 9.5 compression set up for OPT, P class, they made around 550hp. I believe Cat Nip still has small block Chevy's.

I heard Dan retired and moved up north. I sold Dan my 31' Lancer around 1983. Dan than bought my Magnum race boat that in his first race in Grand Haven Mi he won in B class, just as the way I sold it to him. Mark

Jolley 01-23-2012 06:33 AM

The 31 Shadow Cat, Catnip, is still owned by Greg DenBoer of Kentwood MI. It is still running small blocks. It has all aluminum Donovan 409 cubic inch dry sump blower motors.

Hey Mark , Didn't Hildago later purchase the old Motor City magic boat and put a canopy on it. i believe his driver was killed in it in Key west. Wonder if he is still in the joint ?

ROADHOG 02-07-2012 11:01 AM

Back in the mid 80's there was a Shadow owned by Sammy of Action Marine in Dearborn Hts, Michigan. It was Black and Yellow and I believe the name was Warrior. Any idea if the boat is still around under a different name? I remember Sammy moving to Naples,Florida. I think he had health problems.

Yes he did have Rob & Bob's old Magic cat back in 1991. After that it was in a boat yard in the Key's rotting away. Nobody has seen it in many years. Bill I would think Pete is out by now, I'm not sure he even went away.

Pete @ Sal can share stories about there KSW engines that have alot of punch. :lolhit:

Ryan Beckley 02-08-2012 08:43 AM

Pete did not run KS&W motors he ran United Racing engines / Laser in both Miami's Best and American Dream. If you google Peter J Hildalgo, you'll find some interesting info about his on going case. Like the part about how the person the gave the feds all the info was a long time paid informant and so on.

Had to read again...your saying he ran Chuck's engines in those 2 boats?

Ryan Beckley 02-08-2012 10:25 AM

Ryan it was a joke ment for bill63 & ironhead, we use to race M class against Pete with his United engines. Sal use to make that comment about KS&W in his interviews back in the day.

Ryan Beckley 02-09-2012 08:39 AM

Did you know the Chuck from United still builds the motors for JD Byrider #45?

It was the Hustler that became the 2nd Ambusher. -Werner and John flew out to the bay tested her and brought her home same day.
