Xk 22

Hey everyone love the forum, but haven't posted a whole lot. I'm hoping y'all can give me some opinions. A couple of years ago I bought a 1971 xk 22, hull #8, with the intention of fixing it up. Life happened and wasn't able to start working on it until recently. First thing when I get started I find a very poor fiberglass job where it looks like someone hit something pretty hard up front. It's going to be a pretty major repair and I'm not sure if it is going to be worth it. With my budget I will be doing the repairs. I have fairly extensive experience on aircraft, but none on boats. My question is, should I cut my losses and get her to someone that could restore her to her former glory, or go full steam ahead. I love the boat and the lines, and it will still require a lot of work when I get done. Any advice would be much appreciated.

David

I would suggest you get it fixed right, they are great boats...

I agree, these boats are classic and rare. Have it done right and do the mechanical yourself. Have the cat help you too.

Keep it and restore it. Even if she has to sit and you can only do one small project a year, in 10yrs it'll be worth it.

Glad to see there is some interest in these old boats! I'll talk y'alls advice and at least get it looked at it before I make a decision. They are gorgeous boats, and I would definitely love to get it back on the water.
