Jup, Ocean Outboard (Tony Caligure) sure did have that old Checkmate dialed in! She was balanced perfectly in that chop.

boat ran 82 mph with 2.4's great boat balsa core bulkheads. The driver and half owner.

Old World, did you guys end up being world champs in 85 in the Checkmate? You guys were running hard in B class. How did K&K run against you guys back then?

Here's some shots of my old 2800SX Outboard. She came from the factory layed up with AME 4000, blueprinted bottom, beefed up transom for tripples, 96 gallon gas tank, and tripple pre-rigged. I'm currently running the same setup as the old Ocean Outboard....24" Gil Setback brackets, motors are at 18" centers. With bone stock 2.4 L Mercs, 25" mids, Bob's lowers, and 26 Merc Choppers I'm running 71 MPH GPS.
