I had a 71' 28 open with twin 250ci 6 Bangers. After stainless props we saw 48 mph. We called it the "Troop Carrier" as it looked like bench seats facing each other in the front compartment. I restored it and sold it to a retiring airline pilot who took it to Pompano Beach. That was a great engine package for that boat. Only downturn was steering torgue over 3500 RPM as there was no counter rotation.Loved that twin 6 Banger sound at 3,000 RPM.I managed to keep th original guages and the sunshades,The temp guage had GREEN/YELLOW/RED colors on the face for the temp, Too Funny.

friend of mine years ago had one of the 28's with 6cyl mercs ..It was actually a fun boat to just cruise around.. Not fast , but cheap to run .IIRC it ran in the upper 40's @wot....His was a closed bow
