Saw one like that at a outdoor powerboat show in Seaside Heights 1986/87. It had Hawk 540ci/575hp engines, Velvet drive 72 trans and SSM3's in a side by side configuration, might of been on a Myco trailer. Sweet powerboat for the Jersey Shore.

This one I can answer. Craig's father George who was a really cool guy, owned Faberge'. George kept a 38 Cig at Turnberry in the 80's, he also kept his yacht there, an 80' Hatteras "Toy George". Any guy in his 70's who runs his 38 Cig and has a small Disco on his yacht at Turnberry, just might be the 'most interesting man in the World'.

That is funny as sh t!!!

88 that's an fn Cool end of the season pic. Snow on the ground and steam in the air. Love it, real die hard boaters. Thanks

Hawk racing team was a boat dealership in Mamaroneck NY owned by Jerry Burton in the early 80's. The Green and yellow Cigarette Hawk boat was a Hawk powered SSMIII boat that was built for Jeff Friedman the owner of Cigarette when Bob Gowens was President. Craig was VP sales and marketing, Scott Smith was service and warranty, Brownie and Val Jenkins in production. And Scott Layman in dealer development.

I Have an HP800 scanner that will scan prints and photos up to 48" wide and how ever long, if I can be of use for vintage/marine stuff I would be more than willing to help. Just cover the ride.

Craig would be the person to ask.

What was hawk racing team?

The Hawk Racing team insignia on JJ had to do with the fact that the Lavin's had some work done at the Mamaroneck location on their 27 Cigarette, in fact they may have bought it from that yard.... I think Don Roberts, their eventual crew chief, worked there as well. But all set up work, engines and hardware on the JJ Chris Cat and 35' Conquest came from Mercury and Lake X. The 48 was rigged by Bobby Moore with a completely custom drive train. None of this had anything to do with Jerry Jacoby,, Hawk engines, Craig Barrie or any of the others mentioned in this thread.
