Hi there... I'm over here visiting from the v drive site and I'm trying to figure out if I can use this part in a project

What I have is some sort of kiekhaefer/ aeromarine bell housing and an unknown brand crash box and dampening plate. I can't seem to be able to post pictures but I have them.

The guy I got it from was shifting the boat with the engine running...It made some noise but did go into gear. Is this ok to do?

I would like to replace the powerglide in my cruiser with this to save some weight and interior room but i need it to be shiftable.
What do you all think?

If it is a Crash box you can't shift it in to gear while it's running, In Fact some you need to have the ignition Off but cranking the motor to get it in to gear, then once in gear turn the ignition on to go. You can take them out of gear while running. but going in to gear is a No No...

10-4...the previous owner did refer to it as a crash box so I'm thinking that's right. Any idea on how to post pictures over here?
