Greetings from New Zealand, 86Nova2 and welcome to Off Shore Only. I guess by US standards you travelled a fair old distance to get your boat. I finally purchased a nice 85 Nova 230XL from North Carolina. Straight line distance to my home here in NZ is 8385 miles, but took 3 months by ship, plus the land miles to Miami. Things one does to get a really stylish old school rig.......

I have always always wanted one of these old novas for some reason they are just so tough to me and there is not any around me I am aware of and a young man and single (23) I had to have a twin engine loud Wellcraft lol!! Heres some pictures!! don't make fun of it to much.....I got to fix the pin stripe's on the side but other than that she don't even have a dock bruise on it, and it don't even need wax. I just rub pledge on it from time to time

What do you mean, "don't make fun of it". It is a great looking example and I just love that colour scheme. Mine didn't come with the teak capping around the windscreen but that is changing with the rebuild. I would say you have done very well with your purchase.

Dude,,, that's a nice ride! Good job on finding her, take care of that classic.= )

zombiescustoms 06-10-2014 06:51 AM

Great looking boat, what props are you running, I'm assuming its a twin sbc alpha drive boat still?

86Nova2 06-10-2014 11:29 AM

Thanks guys I am super proud of her!! The props I am not sure yet they are a 21p quicksilver but no actually name on them yep its still alpha set up SBC 260 horse 350's I was gonna ask the question of what kinda props this boat likes cause I know she isheavy and I'm sure I would need a prop to carry a heavy load.....any suggestions? Cause my current props dont seem to wanna carry the load well up on top

zombiescustoms 06-10-2014 12:41 PM

Are they round ear props or cleavers? I have a 250XL NOVA that is essentially the same boat but with a stepped transom. Mine is running 23 cleavers, but need to make a change, thinking of 21s I am running 406ci small blocks. What does yours run @ WOT?

They are round ear 21's I have only pegged it once for just a minute but I believe I seen 4,500 -4,600rpm on both tacs full trim half tank of gas and 6 people lol don't know actual g.p.s. speed yet though.... but seems to wanna bounce up and down like the props are losing bite maybe?

I guess you can say I'm a little partial to Nova's. You have a nice ride there.

Here is the original (just because I like showing it off, lol).

She looks to be in really good shape. All fresh water use I assume? I had a 23 Nova II with single 350 with the same paint. I regret selling her. Enjoy!!!

I do believe you are correct all freshwater use. Thank you for the compliment!
