Who do you use for insurance?
 

I tried a search but that function isn't working for me right now. Who are people using to get insurance on these older boats? I just picked up a 78 scarab II that was redone in 2003 and I'm having a hard time getting a company to insure the boat, and the ones that have given me a quote are telling me it's only worth 7000; that won't work.

Pay for a value and condition survey. And then get an agreed value policy.

Hagerty does classic boats, no survey needed and will insure to your stated value. I work for Allstate and that is who we use for classic boats. Try contacting a local agent and see if they can put a quote together for you or call them direct at 877-922-9701

Yes, but only if you do "inland" boating....this is the popup I just got when checking a quote.

"Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance Agency is not currently able to offer new coverage for cruisers, trawlers, sailboats or for any coastal navigation in Florida. Additionally, Hagerty is not currently able to offer coverage for any vessels for coastal navigation in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, & Texas. Other types of vessels may be considered in these areas.

Hagerty Marine will continue to quote and issue policies for wood-constructed runabouts, utilities, launches and other inland-use policies in these areas."

Mines thru Progressive. (Flo never showed up though)

Try Boats/US

I got mine through progressive. Agreed value no survey. I guess if I went real high they may have wanted a survey but not sure.
