"Thunder Row" would be cool.

Great idea! I've been thinking of building a " period correct " tow vehicle for my Magnum ( mainly because I want a cool tow vehicle without having a $50,000 truck sitting around doing nothing ! ). Growing up around the Offshore race scene , I remember many of the boats were transported with mid '70's Chev/Ford 3/4 and 1 ton trucks with full utility tool boxes or flat beds. Miller/Saccenti had an orange flat bed 1 ton with the Popeyes logo ( Popeye the sailor , not the chicken ). Tony Panetta from Kustom drove a dk blue chev with Why Knot Racing Team logo. Rob from Blue Thunder Racing Engines drove a 78 chev.
All of these were basically hand painted lettering with a boat and some waves . Sorry I dont have any pics avail but I'm sure somebody does. Good luck!!

If it's a 1978 truck than by far i think the coolest one would be Cigarette as that's when they were in their prime dominating the circuit. Also Cigarette is what it is. You can be in the middle of Iowa and they will know what Cigarette is. Good luck with your choice. Sure is a cool idea. Pics would be good.

Its astonishing that 1978 is old. I still have a hard time considering "1970's" vettes and camaros classics. Even though I know darn well that they are...

Anything before 1990 is a classic - LOL Unbelievable!

I found a old school shop truck in the north Georgia area. I was shocked to see the Cigarette Logo on the rear window. I would like to know if this was a actual race boat tow truck. I thought everyone would enjoy if I can figure out how to post a photo.

My dad bought a 26 foot Monza in Florida when we were down there for Christmas vacation in 1973. It arrived in Michigan about mid July COD pulled behind a very faded blue beat to hell 63 Dodge pickup with no brakes.

Delivery guy said he downshifted and kicked the trailer brakes on and that is how he drove all the way from Florida.
