"Copper Kettle"

There used to be a race boat called Copper Kettle that ran in the Long Island sound in the late 70's. Does anyone know of this boat? I wonder what disarray it is in if still around.

The "copper kettle" that was out of the copper kettle marina in Ohio is for sale in the classifieds right now. I believe it was out of lorain or vermillion.

There was more than one Copper Kettle race boat [Bertram, Cigarette Gara] what hull are you asking about

The Bertram

I didn't know there was more than one. I remember it was loud and fast. I was small and it was big! I wasn't even sure it was a "real" race boat or just made to look like one. I see now, that it was real. Thanks!!!

Yes Wharf Rat, Sandy Satullo's North Ohio Copper Kettle boats and race team and Marina where the real deal. He is one of the many Icons of or Sport that came from our unforgiving training grounds of Lake Erie. The Copper Kettle Boats sitting in the pits at the Cedar Point would make the hair on your arms feel strange. That was one of many boats that came from the Great Lakes that made the next generation of Boat Racers from our area. Never boring and always entertaining.

My buddy owns the Bertram in Canada. I know he has listed it for sale and I believe he has a sale pending.

The boat you posted is a 40ft Corsa. The person in the photo at the front of the boat looks like Mel Riggs working on the boat. He was the mechanic for Sandy Satullo.

Dr. Robert Gingold a plastic surgeon in Miami also ran the Copper Kettle in the eighties . There is another post about this somewhere.

I do. Not great ones though. . I was only 11. I was a kid, but I do recall the Cats in the photo there were sitting on the ground because they were pulled and replaced with Merlin conversions. Their plan as I recall it was to run outside, cut miles and avoid/minimize refueling. But things didn't exactly go to plan. I'm pretty sure the Gentry team won.

But it looks like I cant post them quite yet because I don't have enough posts.
