Blue and White.

Originally in Ohio had bigger engines then 7.4 put back in and sold, the engines were supposed to have little hours now a total of 200 hrs.

Went from Ohio to Ft Myers to Iowa to Lake of the Ozarks.

Story is some guys out of Ohio owned this and a bunch of race boats, did not race this one. Maybe they used it for a engine test bed.

It also looks like a 85 that use to be on the West side of Michigan Grand Haven area.

The gentleman I am buying it from is not sure of the history before he bought it in 2011.

Thanks

Nice looking boat, somehow, Scarab 38's and 377's of about this vintage just keep popping up in varying condition. I'm constantly wondering how many more hidden gems are yet to be uncovered?

Good luck with your new ride.

I know the boat very well. My friend Mike owned it and restored it. It was in Eastlake, Ohio for many years before he bought it. He redid transom and stringers along with engine room bulkhead and really cleaned it up. He had a set of 600HP motors in it for a couple seasons them decided to sell to buy a cruiser. He pulled the motors for another future project and put in the 330's. Great solid boat with classic lines.

What makes this a KAAMA boat?

Good question. KAAMA was used for all the flat deck boats once they were called KAAMA. It was in name only. 377, 380 flat deck, 38 scarab and a few more names. But once they came out with the KAAMA everyone referred to them as KAAMA. Until they they changed it to 38kv then a lot of folks called all of them 38kv. Then some said they must all have Kevlar or Kevlar vice or kaama vice. I believe it was KAAMA VICE = KV but I can find out for sure. I worked at Wellcraft for a couple of years. They did not all come with Kevlar. I know this was talked about here a few times I am not trying to change the official Naming just adding some discussion. But I can find out for sure.

This came from 'Team Archer' on another Scarab thread and sounds good to me!

........."KV stands for Kaama version it had the same deck style as Bettys race boat that's all that it stood for because the KV came out before the TV show and that's straight from the horses mouth !!!!!!!....."

I'm convinced. :)
