Thanks to Dan and his Archer Marine; Betty Cook in action.
Was talking to a friend of mine today about drives and Weismann Marine in Costa Mesa came up. Well, the Weismann family have contributed to speed on land, water and air for a long long time. While we're checking out photos of their work all of a sudden a photo of a famous poster from Archer Marine pops up. It's Betty Cook in action in her different brand of race boats, among them the Team Scarab 38 by Larry Smith. So courtesy of Dan at his Archer Marine, by way of Weismann Marine, here's the photo.

Anybody notice why Bob Nordskog's 35 Cigarette was the world speed record holder. This is a test for you bench racers to see if you can figure it out. there is a big difference in his boat than the others.

Seeing Don adjust his watch band clasp, in this 1967 photo from Sweden of him, remind me of another story courtesy of Brownie:
"His(Don's) bizarre sense of humor is well documented. Stu Jackson had been Aronow’s sales manager for Formula Marine and was sold with the company to Thunderbird Boat Co. in 1964. Stu had bought a gold Rolex with his bonus from the sale and came to lunch with the 188th Street gang at Manero’s in Hallandale. We had Aronow, myself and Dick Riddle from Donzi, Jim Breuil and Jake Trotter from Magnum, Cal Connell, and Sam Sarra from Daytona Marine, developer of trouble charged Daytona marine engine. Stu sat next to Don and proudly showed his new gold Roller. Don: “That thing shockproof?” “Yep”, “Waterproof?” “Yep” “Lemme see it”. Stu handed it to Aronow, who held it by the clasp and banged it several times in the edge of the table, then threw it into Stu’s draft beer. A couple of bubbles came up, and it stopped. “Don’t think so, Stu”. Share another couple of photos of Don, from his '67 World Championship series race in Stockholm, courtesy of a friend who's our Swedish Magnum 28(Don's outboard 27) historian. The Swedish Offshore racing family Boghammar did a deal with Don and bought the outboard race boat and got indefinite license to produce them.
