233 formula

I am repowering a 1974 233 formula with a 454 magnum / bravo , does anyone know if or how much I can raise the X dimension ? thanks Murray

are you taking out a mercruiser pre alpha? or Volvo or OMC that have bigger transom cut-outs? are you planning or replacing the transom? or using the original cut-out?

I am taking out a pre alpha and hoping to not have to re do the transom

then your only option is installing the bravo where the MR was. raising the engine is off the table. raising the prop can be done with a shorter bravo or bravo variant, which is pricey. and you probably already have the drive, transom assy, etc to do the swap, so an extra 2k for a shortie is probably not in the budget...

don't think it makes a diff. same inner and outer transom assy. same hole same location.

The old cutout should fit new Alpha, Alpha Gen2 or Bravo TAs. No problem..
