Can anyone identify this old Excalibur???

So there's this relic of an old boat I pass from time to time, partially covered up in somewhat of a "junkyard" owned by a pack of hoarders. It's pretty large, I'd say 40'+, been sitting there for at least 10-15 years. Every time I drive by I think to myself, "Wonder what that thing is?" So yesterday I drive by, walk up and snap a few pics. I did a bit of searching on google but can't seem to find anything that looks like this. It is definitely old, maybe from the '80s? It's surely a complete loss, as the cockpit has never been covered but for some reason I found it to be an interesting artifact.

Pics attached for reference:

It's the strangest thing, you should see the rest of the "area." They built up this neighborhood ten years or so ago, and for whatever reason this junkyard/hoarder wouldn't budge. At least that's what I assume the scenario to be.

Deck looks like a Signature. If memory serves me correctly (which it rarely does) there may have been some sort of joint venture back in the 80's that could have resulted in this? The 40' Excalibur that I remember had more traditional deck lines.

I think you may be correct. I've been digging around since I made the OP and I believe what I'm looking at is a 38', possibly a Signature. The strakes on the front of the hull give it away. If what I'm reading is correct, then this is an extremely rare boat. There is junk laying around ALL over the "yard", from tractors to old cars. I always thought it weird that they had a boat sitting there too but I guess maybe they know what they've got?

It looks like a signature with the way it has the curves by the engine hatch, I can see the craigslist add now ........................

Definitely a 38' Excalibur. Shame it was left to die

Signature for sure.

Can anyone give me some info on these things? I’m just not finding much. Production years? Power options? Additional exterior or interior pictures?
