New member, new boat 1973 v hull. Looking for any info
Hey everyone, I recently purchased and have started restoring a 1973 28’ boat. I was told it was a prototype, 1 of 2 built, and it came with a jet engine from Boeing originally. It had a big block v8 and outdrive installed next and the current configuration is twin 225 outboards. I was curious if anyone could give me any insight into this boats history. I don’t have enough posts yet for pictures apparently though |
My pictures do show up in the gallery under newest posts. The boat has a black hull with multicolored stripes and white outboards. It’s named The Sting |
I was told it ran in the low to mid 60’s with the current motors |
I know it was used in a low budget action film in the 70’s with the turbine engine setup. I’m working on getting a vhs copy from a previous owner |
The hull and transom are solid, as well as the outboard bracket. Unfortunately the floor and a few stringers were rotted out pretty bad. I’m in the process of replacing all of it and reconfiguring the deck design for fishing offshore |
I’ve cleaned, removed, repainted and installed the fuel tanks. Put in new fuel lines, filters, water pumps, plugs and rebuilt one lower unit. |
I’m trying to get to 10 posts so I can add photos |

on the title it lists the make as HM which I am assuming would be homemade?! That would make some sense with the story on it

Almost to the point I can post a picture.. haha |
