Thanks for the recommendations. They were both great reads. The amount of drugs and money that went through Miami is incredible. Hard to believe that Jon was in the situations he was and still is alive to tell about it. Crime paid for at least one man.

Thanks, Todd

oh, Jon Roberts aka John Riccobono has been gone for a while now...

Thanks. I did not know about him beyond where the book left off. Appears he died of natural causes though...

What I thought was crazy in American Desperado as it relates to our sport was Jon stating he was introduced to the Colombians by Don Aronow’s son. Jon said he used to hang out at Dons Cig plant on 188th street and bought multiple boats from him. Out off all the books on Aronow and I’ve never heard this before. Chapter 41 is very interesting as it relates to Don.

Finished it today. Great read. I wonder if the Todd R Cimino mentioned in the book is the one and same that was doing business in Blountstown FL as Hawk Power in the early 90's?

Gotta be him. His OSO screen name is MidOcean

The author lost me 'MidOcean' with that quote. A book full of quotes from articles and books by others is a little bit like the reading way back about the Apache Indian Winnetou, by a German Karl May who never put a foot on American soil, romantic and exciting for youngsters and maybe nostalgic at best for the ones that lived it. Hawk Power Inc. & Apache Racing Team Inc., in Blountstown, FL by Todd Ray Cimmino, was a pitiful criminal true-life short story that had as little relationship to Craig Barrie's and Bud Lorow's Hawk Marine Power and Team Apache at Apache Power Boats as now Todd Ray Cimmino would know about the production of the Miami Vice TV show, because of a convenient 'Tinseltown' name change to T. Rafael Cimino, and that he read about late 'Moby' Griffin, but don't know who 'Captain Jim' was. With all due respect to the authors of books about this era, like Roben Farzad or American Desperado's Evan Wright, most of them were as teenagers watching Scarface on VHS growing up, not partying at The Mutiny, the set of Miami Vice or even much better, doing honest work at Thunderboat Row. Thank God for 'Brownie' and His excellent Tales From Thunderboat Row: https://talesfromthunderboatrow.com
