This is not my boat and I do not know the people selling it, just thought folks in this area might appreciate it

By the way, does fiberglass last forever or does it eventually break down?

1974 ? ? That thing is new ! Even when Dick Bertram had Ray Hunt design a 31 footer for him in the late 50's offshore racing in some form or another had already existed on the other side of the pond for a long time , although no where near as popular as it was to become in time.
That one appears to be a nice 'Real' Scarab though , not one of the Wellcraft versions.
At the risk of boring you (or anyone else) my pipsqueak 19 Donzi was built in 1966 and the Magnum was made in 1973 and they were hardly the firsts in their categories.

Oh , and it's been said that a million years from now residents of planet earth will be scratching their heads as they dig up fiberglass hulls from a millennia ago. The transoms and stringers will long be gone but the hulls will still be there . (Unless it's the transom I re-did)

My friend Steve's boat. He had her for sale for quite some time, several years ago, and wanted a very good home for her. I would be surprised if he would sell for under $25k. Like Dan mentioned, she's a Team Scarab 9 Meter by Larry Smith. Made in 1975 for the Hansen Family and Steve bought her in 1976. Boat is just fantastic and is in Bristol condition. She does upper 70's with twin 425 hp SBC 355's. Always been a freshwater lake boat under Steve's ownership all these years. The ad is naturally a scam.

Sure does Bill, but close inspection shows that the Scarab got quite a different entry, slightly different sheerline and strakes. Larry Smith went with an almost straight sheer in later models, though always a slight reverse.

Here are a few more photos. Interior was re-done in 2002 and new custom built motors then too.

What a cool old boat. Takes a lot to keep one that nice for that many years.

Do you know any specifics on the motors? I am a small bock fan and am always interested to see what others have done to get decent power and still be marine friendly. 425hp is pretty darn good from a 355 especially if it is running pump gas. I can see it has dry exhausts so he must have a pretty good sized cam.

Thanks,
Russ
