Abbate "Five" & Jacky Ickx - 1987
 

Hi all - I hope someone can help me with some archive information,

I am trying to find reports of half a dozen European Class 1 Offshore races from 1987 that were contested by Tullio Abbate's boat "Five", crewed by Abbate, Matteo de Nora and ex-racecar driver Jacky Ickx. The information I have is that Ickx contested the events at Villaneueva, San Tropez, Venice, Monte Carlo, Viareggio and one other - possibly either Cannes or Lavagna.

The boat was powered by two marinised Porsche 924 engines that Ickx had persuaded the German car-builder to develop for offshore racing. As far as I am aware, it didn't finish any of the races Ickx contested due to mechanical failures, but some back story would be great. Also, if anyone has a good quality photo of the boat in action, I'd be hugely appreciative. Happy to share my personal email for responses if that's more convenient.
