mini Super Hawaii's?
I've just figured out today that they made small versions of super Hawaii after seeing one when driving down the road. Does anyone have any more info on these? What sizes did they make? did they make a lot? this boat says intrepid on the side and I'm fairly familiar with the intrepid/super Hawaii relationship but teach me as if I know nothing lol.

Never seen or heard of them before (the minis) but i like it!!! Hope someone knows something about them!

This model was called the Super Hawaii 18 Super Kid. They were made in few numbers starting in 1991 when Japanese Yoshiro Kitami was involved with Intrepid. Supposedly a couple stayed in the U.S. and the rest were exported to Europe and Japan. They also made a 15 or 16 footer a year or two later, but it was not a good-looking boat IMHO, and a budget alternative.

Yes, the money that Yoshiro Kitami and his brother spent on their activities of boats and land development projects in Hawaii and Japan was crazy. They were later found to be 'white-collar criminals' though. John Michel Jr. of Intrepid had used Kevlar in his boats since 1983 and Fabio Buzzi that was the builder of the pre-owned and new race boats that he sold/leased to Kitami naturally were Kevlar boats. The 46 foot cruiser above was a pleasure version of Buzzi's Cesa 1882/Gancia Dei Gancia race boat that Kitami bought. Even the pleasure boats had full Baltek coring and 10 layers of Kevlar in the bottom structure of the hull, five in the hull sides, and four in the deck according to a test review of the boat model. John Michel Jr. of Intrepid had used Kevlar in his boats since 1983 so on either side of the pond everybody had plenty of experience with the materials.

7 posts, you’re nearly there. The 10 posts is an inbuilt security thing. I think it’s to prevent spammers posting pics.

Oh Yes! A Super Kid it is and what a beauty. Looks like a shallow V at the transom, so a 15" shaft motor might work to keep the weight lower.
A Yamaha 150 Vmax would be an engine that could be acquired for not too much money, but that's a 20". No matter what you power it with I would have the knees and the transom beefed up a little bit since the boat was rated for 115 hp and is more than 30 years old now. Can't wait to follow your adventures with this rare gem. I'm on the 'Left Coast' so I'm not familiar with the shops that set up the smaller outboard performance boats in your neck of the woods. I bet You could get the best invaluable advice on the ScreamAndFly forum. |
Need to pull some molds off that , it’s way to cool . Can we see some pics of the bottom looking from the back and also the steps in the bottom ?
