What’s a Cary 50 worth.
Not a restored surface drive beauty.
but a decent orignal style runner |
Very thin specific market IMO !!!
not much for most.. a lot for someone searching for those! quad inboards? |
Curious to read other people opinions!

With quad fresh gas inboards, and an original refurbished 50 in very good condition is anywhere from $40k to $100k or so. A project without decent engines, but no serious rot, or other hull/deck major issues is maybe $25k.
This was bought right because it had structural issues and was turned into a mid-60s mph WOT Pilot House excursion/fishing machine by a handy fellow. That's the only way to go imho if one lacks the coins to go with twin modern powerful diesels. https://www.thehulltruth.com/boating...n-project.html An OSO recent thread discussing value of these. As cool as they are and have always liked them they are just too big and too much weight for gas power in my opinion .
I had a buddy that had a Harley 45 with triple 502s down here in Fl which is a shortened Cary. It never performed real well and had a minimum planing speed that would empty your wallet . Baronmarine/Todd on here had a Formula 40ss that I had the pleasure of riding on a few times. What a great boat . Planed and cruised at a reasonable speed and had a great layout in the cabin and cockpit and a nice top end. And with the right trailer and tow vehicle trailerable at least for storage . I don’t know if it’s still there but there was a Cary or Harley rotting away at a storage place on the north side of the road coming into Spring Lake Michigan last time I was up there 3 years ago. Before I moved to Florida Van Andels financed The brothers that owned Dryland marina to start building the tooling to build a lengthened Cary 50 into a 70. The guy who was leading the project used to work at my older brother’s boat building plant years before. Cool monster with big diesels back in the day. |
