Nor-Tech 4300 Super Vee - Honest Thoughts

Nor-Tech 4300 Super Vee - Honest Thoughts

Hi All,

I'm looking to get into an offshore vessel. I'd greatly appreciate insight, feedback and advice on the Nor-Tech 4300 Super Vee 130 - 200k usd range 2000's ('05 - '08 models). I'm after intel on best engine config, top speed, and things to look for. Also, I'm looking to ship to Australia so any advice on cost and shipping companies would be appreciated.
This is currently on Yachtworld, boats.com etc ,

Thanks in advance for insight and advice.

I love everything about the boats, except for 1 thing: the lack of freeboard.

The captain/former owner of this boat is a friend, and he's probably 6' or so tall. And look how much above the side of the boat you are when driving.
The more tucked in behind the wind deflector, the less wind you get. I've been fortunate enough to have been on and driven many different boats. I can pick the ones that are going to be the most pleasant feeling for the passengers by sight. On this boat, with the long dash, the wind deflector is WAY ahead of the front bolster occupants. You get a LOT of wind. The wind buffeting around your ears and face make you very tired on long runs. Headsets will make runs a LOT better on a boat as such, but it doesn't get you out of the wind. I'm 6'2", and the first time I was on the boat pictured, I was standing between the front and back bolsters, went to lean on the gunwale, and almost tipped out of the boat as it caught me below the waist. With this size boat, I would expect and want to be deeper IN the boat, vs. ON the boat which also provides a more secure feel especially in rough water.

The boat pictured is a 2008. At SOME point AFTER this year, NorTech DID lower the cockpit floor. But I don't know what year, nor how much. But such does not affect how far you are from the windscreen.
