The Boat Does need a Low water pickup High x Dim and if you noted the Low water pressure alarm starts to go off after 68 mph + I dont think Shoties will work not a lot of drive in the water on plane.

Well I guess Cobalt has arrived with it's own forum. 
Great boats!
In my experience I had no problem keeping up with a 525 343 Cobalt, and my old sled runs 70 in pretty much any condition. However I've also run with a 600 boat, and he walked away and pretty much put a clown suit on me.

the best i could get out of the 343 with 525's maximus 5 blades 29 lab'd and difuser rings cut down was 77.7 gps 2 guys, 1/4 tank fuel. and a good 1' chop. fill it full of fuel and a calm day its a 72mph boat. I have asked if they would build me one with 700nxt's but they do not seem interested. it will run all day beside any other performance boat of the same size and power, and i take the kids with me.

one thing to consider is fresh water vs salt water, a boat is more buoyant in salt water than fresh . I know when we raced lake of the ozarks vs salt water the boat was at least 3-5 mph slower

By the spring Ron, Paul Hewitt is going to be a local expert on Whipples. That'll put you over 700 hp a side. Just a thought.

Not sure how Cobalt lays up their boats but any boat that is laid up and rolled out by hand can vary a great deal in weight boat to boat. In a 34' boat I would venture to guess the weight can fluctuate by as much as a few to several hundred pounds. Toss is a strong set of motors on one of the lighter boats and you can easily see a 5 MPH difference in the same model/same engine boat. I'm friends with a Merc tech that used to work at the local marina that sells a very popular brand of production-built boat. He used to install Corsa exhaust on these boats all the time from customers that would buy an in-stock boat that did not have thru-hull exhaust. He used to save the cutout pieces of hull side to show people just how different each boat could be laid up. There would be incredible differences in hull thickness from boat to boat. There would also be incredible differences in hull thickness side to side on the same boat. I used to own a 232 Rinker with a 5.7EFI (260 HP) that would run 54 MPH GPS. Every other 232 with this setup ran a 26" propset. I would be all over the rev-limiter with 26's and had to run 28's. Every other boat with this setup ran between 50 MPH to 52 MPH max. So, unless proven otherwise I believe the good Dr. Congrats on the strong running boat!
