300xs vs 350v trips on a 36 Concept

Just bought a 36 Concept and riged for opti's so looking to go with the 300xs, but the 350v looks like it going to be mean engine, but is it worth the 30k more to have 1050hp and 450lbs more in weight, then 900hp 300xs.

The 350's would give you the speed. What year is your boat do you have a pic.

The 350's would give you the speed if that's what you are looking for. What year is your boat do you have a picture to post.

But the 350v are 450 pounds more in weight then the 300xs so what type of speed diffrence could it really turn out to be.It's a tuff call do you know of any 36 with 300xs on them if so what type of speed are they getting.

Tough, extra 450lbs is a lot for only 150hp increase

Hi Joeya It Jamie from Tampa we meet at the boat show in Miami and talked over the phone a few times I had the 27 with the 300xs.And you tried to get me into a 30 but was just the wrong time for me then.So went by the plant and met Louis and bought the Black 36 with trips. And now have to power it,so looking to see what to do.Don't know spending 30k more for 350's is really worth it, and have heard they are having problems with them don't really want to be the ginny pig.Atleast the 300xs have been out a few years, and what I have heard the weight diffrence is a factor with the boat.

There was a guy on here that lived up in the Spring Hill area and had a 36 with twin 300XS. I think his boat topped out at around 67-68 or so. His boat is for sale last I heard.

Personally I think the 300XS would be faster due to the weight and they put out more than 300ho too. I am not sure about reliablility though as I have heard of some issues with powerheads at times. I have Verado's on my current boat and it is nice not to have to mix oil, deal with the smoke/smell and the Verado steering and total package sure is nice.

Yes I remember you. Honestly I would not do the 350 just because they are new motors and yes you would be the ginny pig. I would keep it 300xs Just to give you an idea there is a 36 with twin 300xs and he is running 66 - 68 but that all depends on how much fuel you have on board, gear and people. If you don't mind spending money on the oil then just stick with 300xs at least for now. I would give the 350 Verado's at least 2yrs before evening thinking about them. Let them get all the bugs out of them. Also that boat is sitting on a trailer why not just purchase the trailer as well.

I will call tomarrow and see what they want for it,I did not know it was for sale.

With triples on the 36 you want the lightest engines possible . All that weight up high on the transom of the boat has a huge impact on the handling of the boat at speed . Gotta go light with triples !
