2005 Concept twin 225v's top end speed?

I recently purchased a 2005 30 foot concept and I am only topping out at 50mph. I have tried several different conditions. I am pretty sure this should be a 60mph boat. I think the engine's might be sitting to low. Props are Bravo 3 blade 21 pitch.
Any ideas?

That sounds off to me, mine is an 03 with 225s but my motors are 99efis it runs in the low to mid 60s with bravo 24 -4 blades I'm getting ready to switch to 21 pitch 4 blades to pick up a few rpm How many rpm are you turning? the set up is key, also, have you drained the B-bracket, they have been known to hold water. Marylandmark had an 04 that ran in the 60s also with the 225s. keep us posted

Brad,

why are you going smaller...Have your 24 worked on for that extra RPM that you are looking for..going smaller would defeat the purpose of top end speed...Just my 2 cents..:drink:

I can only turn these 5000 to 5100 rpm I need 5600 to 5800 It has been suggested that I go smaller to get the rpm up? looking for help, open to suggestions

Brad,

Write down your current MPH and RPM at WOT.. (wide open throttle), once that is established take the 24 off and go to a reputable PROP Shop and tell them what you want out of those props....RPM needed and They will work them out..

If you have Bravo 1's and they are 3 blades you have found your problem.... LOL- sorry; them just jokes. Bravo's are 4 blade props.

Your post is from April- figure it out yet?

If you really have 3 blade 21P I can see where you would top out at 50MPH but you would be able to get there in less than a minute and be ALL over the rev limiter.

What is your RPM? Which mounting holes are your motors in? Pics? Check your props again- wouldn't even be fun running with 21P 3 blades and the motors would most likely be in the lowest mounting position so they didn't spin out.

My 04 w/225's I could run 60MPH solid and 65MPH running light (bouncing all over the place) so I would say you have some thing wrong but need more info to get you going in the right direction.

Brad- your cooler is too full. Lighten it up and lett'er rip! Bonnie may need to ride with me until you figure this out as well...

and quit goofing off and get Joe's Gladiator on our river so I can leave my boat on the lift.

Cheers,
MM

MM
the gladiator won't fit in the garage, LOL talking to prop folks now about reworking mine , I'll let you know what I find out

joefitness123 06-10-2009 08:19 AM

Brad, forget the props....It's a garage upgrade that you need...Let me know when done..I'll take my canoe and park it in there for you...It's only 36 ft..big for a canoe?:drink:Thanks, Joe

**anyways, you are headed in the right direction...time and patience and a whole lot of testing...***

Are you interested in any land in South Venice?? MM should get off of some of his money and get the gladiator for us all.
considering a change just not sure which direction, I like the CC ,but miss the performance set ups also. hope to hear some news on the props today I have contacted 3 different shops

Brad- I'll get one of those pole barns put on my waterfront lot for you. Rent free- just leave the keys in the boat!

Outboards for me until they dredge my creek; you will have to get it for us until that happens.

I ran with Otis in the Serious Offshore boat down to the Keys for the boat races- sweet boat and by far the best value for a Cig out there.

Quit BS'ing- Fall will be here soon enough!
