Help me find a 30!
As the title says I am looking for a nice 30 Concept. Obviously, I see the boats posted in the classified here and on boat trader along with other online sales sites. Im looking into those options.
Guess I am looking for unlisted boats that you might now about. If you have any leads let me know. Details of my desires below. Looking to spend in the 50K range, cheaper is better and I am not scared of a little cleaning or TLC. Not to concerned about model year, more about condition and hours. Really want 250hp engines but can do with 225's also. Prefer Optis, but open to others. Would like a trailer, but not a deal breaker. Outside of that I am open to options! BTW, I have been in contact with Susan at Concept also, so no need to suggest that. Thanks, John |
BTW, lets not bring up 36's. As much as I like them, the reality is I do not have the vehicle to tow, space to store or launch facility to support a boat of that size.
Thanks, John |
Did you check into the 2004 30 in West Pt, VA? Looked like a nice boat, I may think about selling mine next year and getting something with more of a cabin.

Pete, I have looked into that boat. Its being advertised by a broker and they dont seem to have much information. The main thing I got from them was that the boat was under contract. But then a couple days ago I got a cryptic email from the broker saying the deal was falling thru? Honesty, I have gotten three emails from the broker and I don't think there is a single complete sentence in any of them. So, I havnt been impressed with the broker at all. So I also contacted Susan @ Concept about the boat. She wanted me to write a back up contract thru her on the boat. Anyhow, as of a couple days ago I decided to let it ride on that boat for a few days. If its still for sale then I will try to go see it. Im not writing any contract or putting a deposit on a boat I have never seen. I dont think thats how it should work. To be honest I would much rather leave a broker out of the mix all together!
I have also contacted the advertiser about the blue 03' advertised on here also. Unfortunately the advertiser is a friend of the seller. I have the owner/sellers number now and intend to call tomorrow. That boat is a long ways away! But its a fresh water boat so it might be worth the trip? BTW, I fly home from being over seas for four years today! So I have lots of other stuff going on! Anyhow, Exciting times! |
Check out thehulltruth.com, in the classifieds, a guy just posted a 04 30' for 48K, 400hrs

no problem, I spend too much time online. that is a great site, there are some very knowledgable outboard guys on there, you'll get a lot better answers to any questions about OB's over there.

Went and looked at the boat, sea trialed it and left a deposit. Will be going back before to long to pick it up.
Pete, what props are you running on your boat? The boat has 22 pitch Bravo props and was very nose light. It took very little trim before the bow was carrying very high and the boat was very loose! Seems it could use a little more stern lift and less bow lift. |
I run the same props, I had 23P mirages and the Bravos are better, they do lift the stern versus the mirage. I am right at the rev limiter so a 22P is the right prop, the hole shot is crazy fast too. You really dont need much trim and I usually drop the tabs a little. They are a very light boats and ride on the top, it does best in a light chop to 2'-3' chop, flat water can make it porpoise a little. The harder I run mine the better it handles (up to about 3' chop), you definitely have to drive the boat though, it's a very stable and predictable ride, it may take some getting used to I love mine.

Boat made it to my house today. Was a long trip! 180 miles took over 6 hours.Needless to say, it did not go as smooth as I would have hoped. 30 minutes into the trip a trailer tire threw the tread. I had two spares so I put one on. Unfortunately it was low on air so I limped it to a gas station. Blocked in about 10 people while at the air hose. Anyhow, get the tire up to 50psi pull the air hose off the valve stem and the whole valve stem blows off. So now i'm down two tires! The last spare is not a good tire and is not going to make the 150+ miles. After an hour of phone calls I find a place that can get me new tires within 90 minutes and is willing to mount and install them when I get there. So I limp the whole rig to the firestone in mechanicsville and they promptly go to work. Props to them! Crazy but $315 and 90 minutes later we were back on the road with 4 new tires and two spares again. We rolled for a couple hours no problem. Then about 20 miles from the house the truck exhaust changed pitch. Then about a mile later the exhaust got loud! Pull over and the down pipe at the collector from the exhaust manifold has broken off. So is open manifold on the driver side. I make and executive decision and push forward. It was loud! But after having a couple close calls with the police around me and an open header tow vehicle we made it home! Hope this isnt a sign of how things are going to go with this boat!

wow, sorry to hear about the trip, it sounded like the seller trailered a lot so hopefully ot was just dumb luck. What was your tow vehicle?
|
Truck is a 00' C2500 with a 6.0. Which tows it fine. The exhaust thing has came apart there before. I re welded it last night. So its good to go again for now. If it happens again I will probably replace the whole y pipe.
