Radar arch w/ fold down hinges
 

Can any Concept owners with the foldable radar arch tell me how they like it, durability etc.? Does it rattle? I have seen a few with them online and noticed that it's in the list of options from the factory.

I have just recently purchased a 36' and am looking to add the fold down hinges / bracket.

I do realize that this will be a big project and the arch will need to be re-powder coated. (winter project)

one of my good friends has a 36 that he modified the arch to make it "fold down" and he was not happy with the end result. The workmanship was great, but the practicality of lower the arch and some issues with the hinge pins eventually caused him to go back to a fixed arch that was "cut down" in height.

Thx for the info. Do you know if he used the hinge supplied by the factory or was it made by the guy that did the work?

Apparently you can order a new boat from Concept with this as an option. I am guessing the one from the factory would be better? ?

Phil - my friend had his custom-made after he took delivery of the boat. His issue was a relatively low bridge that caused him problems on the way home if it were high tide. I would def call the Concept factory and see what they do. Not sure if the folding arch option from the factory is a modified standard arch or whether its a complete different design (i.e. one that reduces the overall weight). If I recall, he had some issues with lateral stability as well - I'm sure that the folks at Concept have a better means of making it work.
