DCB M40 Widebody?
Anyone have any updates on how the New M40 is coming?
Is it still in design stages or is one being built? If so, what engines? Can't wait to see how this Cat turns out. Hopefully we see a few buyers in Florida. Thanks |
I cant wait to see it also they are going to have something in Miami but not sure what.

I called about some parts week before last and they said that they are in transition to new the new ownership which has temporarily disrupted their daily business. I'm looking forward to seeing the bottom design for the 40. I'm assuming it will likely have no centerpod?

Im betting it will have a center-pod.
Some other 40' plus Cats have 11' and even 12' beams. Big boats and very stable. This will be a very cool DCB Cat when finished. I hope some east coast poker runners start buying some. The add even bigger power. Maybe some Sterling 1550hp's or Teague 1365/1500HP. Most of all I am happy for Dave and the brand to be able to find a partner and keep DCB growing. I am sure we will see it in Performance Boats magazine as soon as it comes out. They cover DCB pretty well. |
I predict it will not be a "lake" boat. I think it will be aimed at competing with Skater MTI. I think that there's a bigger market there.
|
I was told the same, that the M-41 would not make Miami but hopefully Havasu DS.

Can't wait to see it!! I would love to see someone put the Teague 1365/1500's or Sterling 1550 or Sterling 1700 Turbos or Potter has a cool 1300/1500 also. Something more exotic that the merc 1350's that there are quite a few of already. |

POD ? :argue:
|
Looks like has pod and by the 3d scan looks like an extended version of the m-31, 35 running surface. New deck.

I wonder if that would beat the snot out of the bottom in big water....... I don't like pods on a cat, had them, hated them..... But they do give lift and speed in the flat. They give you room for an oil pan on a single. They help the porpoising................ But I don't know if they belong on a BIG CAT w/ BIG POWER made for BIG WATER??????????????????

You guys and the pod.. Let it go, its going to be an amazing boat, very few can afford, and Dave's the best at what he does....
No one is questioning Dave's abilities to build an amazing boat. One of the responses, the member had a pod cat. I think he should know what he does or doesnt like. Anyway, I think some Florida customers might give the larger "Pod" Cat a try. Especially since quite a few do the poker runs and do not run big ocean water. You sounded like the old PR388 for a minute by the way not the new and improved. |

People are allowed to have an opinion PR388. The pod is not known as a rough water boat. In my "Opinion" I think it would make the perfect poker run Cat.

Sorry bout the one PR388, he's gone, I promise.. Well its definitely going to be interesting to see how the M41 can compete w/ the other larger cats! I can't wait too see it... I've nvr been in a Skater or MTI, but C53, maybe I can meet up w/Blume or get one from Gus, but I know those guys are busy, so i'll let u know.. I don't want to bug them about it... But I've always dreamed of my Skater Ride lol...
Gus said yes at Desert Storm. I will see you there with Blume and Gus for sure. |

The website states with pod or without pod. But my question is about deadrise. I am plenty familiar with V's, but lack experience with cats.
The DCB website states 14.5 degrees at the transom, while all the other long established cat builders are 17-18 degrees for the ocean going cats. Is the DCB a variable deadrise, perhaps with a higher number of degree forward and fewer degrees at the transom to perform a bit like a pad, like used on some hulls (usually lake boat) , but yet slice the water a bit better upfront with a higher degree. With everyone else using 17-18 degrees for the ocean going cats. Will the DCB still be a lake boat even without the pad. How harsh a ride will the DCB be with only 14.5 degrees, will it pound the hell out of ya in 2'-4' seas. |
I think theres a post that it wont be ready for DS. I believe it said not until june but dont quote me on it. Ill try to find the thread.
