Need advice on applying decal to side of boat.

Replacing the side decals on my Baja 25 Outlaw. got new ones from Baja, but not sure how to apply properly. Is there something I can spray on that will inable the large decals to slide so I can position them perfectly but will not take away from the glue adheasive?

All you need is a spray bottle with water and a small amount of dish soap. If you can get some a little glycerin is good too, but not as easy to come by. Do it in the shade, start wetting the decal as soon as you start to peel the back off and keep everything very wet. After the decal is peeled and wet, then spray the side of the boat and then apply the sticker. If it starts to stick, spray some more water. Squeegee out the water once you get the decal placed using a plastic squeegee or credit card. Park it in the sun after squeegeeing and let it dry real well before dunking the boat.

The water and soap won't ruin the glue on the back of the decal???????

If it does, you have a defective decal. You can use Windex also. Be sure the surface is clean of wax ,oil, and dirt. if any "nibs" are in the paint and will be under decal, sand smooth with #400 befor appling and squeegie out from center to outsides in larger concintric circular mottion. You can prick any residual air pockets like you would a blister t5o flatten.

No, it won't damage the glue. You need the water to help position the graphic. Start in the center of the graphic and work your way out. Don't let blisters form. Only prick them after you have tried to work them out. A hair dryer can be helpful.

clean the area to be applied to using acetone if it is gelcoat, as previously state make sure it is free of wax, grease, etc. I use a whole spray bottle with a few 2-3 drops of blue DAWN dish soap. Peel the decal from the backing paper, wet the decal back and the boat. Slide it where you want it. Wheen you get it positioned squgeethe decal on. If you can let it sit before removing the transfer tape do so. You can wet the transfer tape after you have squgeed the decal and it will come off easier. Take your time and it's pretty easy. As Cord stated you can use a pin or xacto knife to pop bubbles.
