Jeff,
I have used Eagle brand raw aluminum mag wheel cleaner (spray it on & hose it off) on my trailer with fairly good success and followed up with Mothers Metal Polish using their foam "Power Ball" with a drill to further polish it. The product that you found does look interesting however. If you try it, let us know how it works out for you. |
on acid
I have used product like this for years. It works well if you follow instructions. 1. do not use this in direct sunlight, try to get in the shade. 2. don't mix to strong you may have to acid wash your trailer 3-4 times but stronger is not better, stronger will turn aluminum white. 3. Use two people one to put it on and one to take it off. It only needs to be on the trailer 1-2 min. after they wash it off you can put it right back on for another etch if needed and repeat as many times is needed. 4. start with a small area till you see how it works. 5. If you get it on your skin or eyes water is your friend.
good luck. |
I have a problem with it streaking on mine.I been using a scotchbrite pad with the acid but it kills your hands:(
|
to stop the streaking make shure the metal is wet before applying and useing a garden sprayer that you fill and pump up the pressure helps also still a two person job for best results, this is done on aluminum house boat hulls

I always just used SOS pads or steel wool to clean my aluminum trailer. Wear gloves and go with the grain.
