Holes in transom
 

I removed my trim tabs to put the origanal ones back on now I've got 14 9/16 holes to fill. Looking for ezee do it yourself (never done it before) filler. Somebody recomended Marine tex epoxy somebody else said to use Evercote KittyHair long stranded fiberglass reinforced body filler. Just want to make sure its done right the first time. Appreciate any help

I would use epoxy and scilica to thicken it to a peanut butter consistency,and fill all the holes.

I would use 9/16 wood and resincoat and wrap it with glass,then drill the holes out just a hair bigger and glue the sticks in with epoxy. Let it get hard then cut them flush on in and outside and glass and gelcoat over,,,,,done.

West System makes some excellent products, resins and fillers that I have used over the years. Most good marine supply places should be able to supply them. I think I would slightly enlarge the holes to make sure you get a good clean surface to bond with, no silicone to prevent the repair resin from bonding.

I'm with daredevil on this one....Use west system to wet the glass out instead of resin. Grind them back below the surface and skim coat with the west system epoxy mixed with the filler and your in.

Let me understand:

1) Enlarge Holes
2) Fill with dowels and epoxy
3) Grind back
4) Coat with west system epoxy and filler
5) Gelcoat to match

????

And dont forget, if for some reason the holes went thru to the inside to seal the inside of the transom also.
