dual engine hull to a single engine???
 

How would i go about converting a dual engine hull to a single engine when the stringer is going right up the middle?? do i cut the stringer and box it out. any body done it and have pics

you will need to do transom and stringers, basically cut everything out and start from scratch. You might be able to leave the outboard stringers but i would just do them all as long as your there.

If you are doing this to save gas money, I think you are making a big mistake. I think you would be better off buying a different boat. There is a reason for twin engines. If you go with a single engine, you will put too much stress on the single drive if the boat has any type of weight and you will break it. Also, you may not be able to get on plane. Last, docking will be difficult. Keep the twins and put gas in it. That's my 2 cents. Good Luck!:drink:

its only a 27' boat same hull a 26' husler was going to put 1 525 efi merc in it and don't have $$ for two.

My 2 cents. When your hull was built and rigged, (1970's) the standard engines where twin 350 CID with 280 horsepower. You can now get a reliable single engine with over 600 horsepower.
There have been several 27 Magnums (which the Signature was splashed from) converted to singles successfully. "Deranged", "Goumada" and "Vixen" come to mind-all 27 Magnums. They actually sit better in the water-not as much weight, and they but more power to the prop than the old TRS twin set up. One big block engine now, is more powerful than twin small blocks, and less drag.
There use to be a single engine race 27 Signature-can't remember the name. So thats my 2 cents. I'm sure some will disagree.

Single= single headache, easier to work on
Twin= twin headaches, bit*h to work on
