linex on outdrive
So,
Got a lower unit that has to be painted. It is stripped to bare metal and was wondering if LINEX will hold up on a lower unit. Linex shop says yes, but has anybody done this? Did it hold up? Boat will do 80 so I'm wondering if it will flake off eventually. Thanks, Bret |
Not sure you want the thickness build-up and not sure how hydrodynamic the finish would be.
|
Linex?...the same textured and gritty linex that's used in pickup truck beds? Why would you want to do that?
|
Checked out their website, it looks like they have all kinds of different coatings.

yea not sure what the advantage would be of using this. If you used the normal truck bed liner it would be a huge mistake since that would just increase drag and hold in heat. If you're looking to leave the boat in the water and want protection from corrosion etc then use a good bottom paint. If you're like most of us and trailer then any paint will do. IMHO though stay away from any high build coating.

I painted my lowers with gloss black rattle can, Plasticote brand, holding up very well
