you shouldnt use etch under epoxies. That goes for epoxy seam sealers too.

I powdercoated this block in my old race boat , took 45 in over to get to 400 degrees . It was a waste of my time as powdercoat shows a ton of orange peel , when scratched it is tough to match . When you get down to it powdercoat is way over rated , I just blast, epoxy prime and paint . I sold my powdercoating business
I do powder coating for small parts as it's easy(for me) and the clean up involves a broom. I'm doing all the brackets, valve covers, etc in flat black. Just did all my steering components on my sled this year and I really like the flat black. |

I don't have the #'s off hand. I can get back to you Mon when I get to the shop. Or ask the jobber you get your supplies from. I sanded and smoothed out my intakes before paint. A friend of mine clear powdercoated his.

Even with my oven pre-heated to 450 it took 45 to an hour to get to 400 . It was a waste of my time . Powdercoat really is crappy finish shows a ton of peel and almost impossible to touch up .
Powdercoat is perfect for production parts and 9 times out of ten whoever powdercoated didnt prep the part correctly |

you can but that is not they way its done in business as there is no way to limit how much powder goes on and too thick it chips . Powdercoat is best used on plant hangers that get bent , washed powdercoated then in a box in 15 min . Ever tried to remove powdercoat ? Either a burn-off oven or chem strip then blast , F all that blast , epoxy , urethane and your done .

Powdercoat never looks as good as paint. And it is impossible to repair. Also not as durable as people claim. My .02
