Tips for Painting assembled motor with Rust
Looking for tips on painting my 350ci motor I am pulling out to replace a ring gear on.
The motor has rust all arounf the mounting feet of the motor, exhaust manifolds are starting in places and others spots all about. What is the best way to remove / convert/ paint the motor? What products to use? rust converters/ POR15 / Primers/ hi heat paints? Just want to freshen it up and make it look nice and shiney :bunnydance: Im pulling the intake and manifolds to paint them seperately.... |
No biggie. Wire brush, red scuff pad, (try to remove as much rust as possible) metal prep, 2 part epoxy. Then base/clear or singlestage. If done properly it will last many years.

can't beat rustoleum to fight rust..even use as a bilge paint

Thanks....
Didnt know if using POR15 or the like (pricey) would be a better choice than rustoleum or the like for preventing future rust. What about hi heat areas such as manifolds? Ive used hi heat rattle cans on auto headers and after a few months, they always start to rust....any ideas for manifolds? |

PowerplayJ, is this easily sprayed or does it typically need to be thinned?
|
Its easy to spray. No no reduction necessary.
