Gel or Paint
Hi..I have a hull 35' which has being painted over the gel..(by previous owner), the paints looks tired and starts pealing..here is the question...re-paint the hull or gel now?
What do you guys think? Looking for the best and most economic solution here...Thanks! |
I'm in the same boat! I have a 32ft hull and im in Columbus OH, I wondering the same thing, and if their is someone local, or in Ohio that is able to do asap, and at a reasonable price!

if your boat is peeling the paint is going to have to come off either way..if you try and top coat it with gel it will blister and look like chit when the gel hits the paint..its going to be a hard call with out seeing it and experimenting with whats their now..

there is no "economical" solution. i'd strip it down and start from scratch with a gelcoated running surface and painted sides, transom and deck.

Any idea what the best case scenario is here..ie cost wise getting the paint of and gel coating her? Average..??
Also I have being told that once it's painted it's better to leave it painted, and paint has a lot of advantages over gel? True or not? Thank's!! |

and if you leave it in the water then your better off leaving it alone because it will look the same way it does now and will be a waste of money...
