dash paint//labels
1 Attachment(s)
started a thread on general discussion but I thought starting one here might be better..
I want to paint my dash,,question is how do I go about getting all the labels back on once painted???its a Fountain dash panel so all the tab and drive numbers are on there as well.. thought about using decals and then clearing over them but not sure if there a better way.. Thanks |
Talk to Joe (Mild Thunder). He redid his dash and used vinyl decals that I made for him! Not sure if he cleared over the decals but it came out real good!
Here is the thread (with pictures) http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/d...check-out.html An alternative would be to wrap the whole dash panel with high performance vinyl that has all the labels integrated into the design. This is the design I am working on for my scarab so it matches the vinyl wrap I did on the boat this past summer! http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...b/new-dash.jpg Thanks Jim |
A lot of ways to go, I painted mine then had Livosi lazer etch the labels back on.
Many different ways you can do it. Like 502SS said you can do a ton with vinyl, and clear over it if you want. I did that on my truck window, carbon fiber vinyl with candy red fade and cleared. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5252/5...f00a7337_b.jpg IMG_2020 by WIldman Grafix, on Flickr |
Friendly reminder B-nt. The clear over vinyl will eventually crack and flake off. You might be good for a year, heck maybe even a couple years. But it will go bad. Best option is to have stencils made and paint it on.

I did use bull dog adhesive promoter first. That said, yes paint over the metal is much more durable, but as I said he has many options to choose from. |

don't think going to be able to cut stencils that small...dia cut ones the only way I think...and doubt thats going to be cost effective....I use clear over vinyl and never had flaking issue...just need right clear...

Look at Mild Thunders dash on this thread. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/d...check-out.html I cut those letters for him, not saying it was easy but I got it done! |
